(Shahbudindotcom 16/04/2021)

Chinese Voters Will Still Back DAP Despite Spats, Say Experts….

While Malay political parties are finding their support on the ground being diluted by a split among their leaders, analysts say spats within DAP will have no impact on Chinese voters.

(FMT) – Political analyst Azmi Hassan said almost all political parties are facing a split.

“What’s happening in DAP is also happening in PAS and Umno,” he told FMT, referring to a recent public spat among DAP leaders.

In PAS, he said there was a split between professionals and the ulamas while Umno is seeing a fight between the old timers and the younger generation.

Yesterday, analysts said DAP was facing a split between the English-educated and Chinese-educated leaders.

This emerged after DAP’s Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh and Damansara MP Tony Pua ticked off party colleague Ronnie Liu over his remarks that DAP should not “dilute its Chinese-ness” and cannot depict itself as a “non-Chinese party”.

Azmi said DAP’s strength was that up to 80% of Chinese support the party as they feel the party can go it alone.

“Unlike MCA that needs Umno, DAP can contest on its own,” he added.

The strong grassroots support meant that internal turmoil was not likely to have a great impact among voters. “The Chinese will still vote for DAP instead of MCA,” he said.

As for Malay politics, Azmi said any spilt weakens the parties as they are all still fighting for ground support. “They are not as strong as DAP and because of that, Malay politics differs from DAP,” he said.

Oh Ei Sun, a fellow with the Singapore Institute of International Affairs, said DAP’s unity was not a prerequisite for victory in elections as the people would vote against overt racism, extremism and corruption.

DAP’s biggest problem would arise if a large majority of Chinese do not come out to vote in the coming general election as a mark of objection to the Sheraton Move, a move that saw the collapse of Pakatan Harapan in February 2020.

“It is not so much due to DAP’s internal power struggle but because of the successful Sheraton Move which reversed the progressive direction for the country,” he said.

Oh said he believed there might be a poor Chinese voter turnout at the next general election.

It’s ‘Dia Mau Kerusi’ Season Again In The DAP………..

It has been a long running joke within the DAP after years of seeing desperate leaders fighting to garner seats, that democracy in the party should be more aptly called “dia mau kerusi”, or “he/she wants a seat”.

I had to laugh when I read that a rather petrified foreign observer commented that DAP leaders were having another slugfest between “Chinese chauvinists” versus “Malaysian Malaysians” and yet all the protagonists on both sides had western names like Ronnie, Tony, Hannah, Anthony.

Yes, you do not have to be an expert political analyst to know that it is election time again in the DAP at federal and state levels, and that all the name-calling has less to do with democracy than with “dia mahu kerusi”. Certainly, factionalism in the DAP is as old as the gerontocrats in the party.

The jostling to be on the nomination “menu” for the election means it is a zero-sum game – one more “multiracial” leader means one less “Chinese chauvinist” and vice-versa. The prize as always is a “kerusi” (seat) in the state or national party committee which gives the winners a better chance of contesting in the general election.

I do not think outsiders should get involved in the factionalism although it is good for the nation to remind the wrestlers in the slugfest that these are important factors for the DAP to ponder when they elect their leaders for the next term, no matter if they are “Chinese chauvinists” or “multiracial chauvinists”.

    Reforms not opportunism

DAP leaders should explain to their members how they could accept the former Mahafiraun (Mahathir Mohamad) as the head of the supposedly “Reform Movement” in 2018. Was it not bare-faced opportunism? It was like choosing to invite a fox into the hen house, an analogy that was proven valid in 2020 when the fox revealed his true nature.

Then, while the Pakatan Harapan manifesto prohibited the prime minister from also taking on the finance portfolio, Mahathir succeeded in taking over the prime companies, namely Khazanah Nasional Bhd, Permodalan Nasional Bhd and Petronas under his Prime Minister’s Office. It was a return to the old Mahathirist autocracy.

Was the Cabinet consulted on the decision to start Proton 2, privatise Khazanah and the revival of the failed F1 circuit? The appointment of Mahathir and then economic affairs minister Azmin Ali to the board of Khazanah also went against the PH manifesto promise of keeping politicians out of publicly funded investments since it leads to poor accountability. DAP leaders in his Cabinet need to explain their compliance with Mahathir’s actions.

And while those in PH were still licking their wounds after February 2020, what was bordering on extreme opportunism was when negotiations were ongoing to form a coalition with Umno, led by the same Mahafiraun. What happened to the slogan “No kleptocrats”? How has Umno transformed to make them possible partners in a coalition?

As events have unfolded, PH has become more and more like Barisan Nasional 2.0 especially with the assimilation of Umno MPs into PPBM. Even Anwar Ibrahim was considering accepting the former BN minister Salleh Said Keruak into his party. He has definitely not broken any laws in his confidential phone call to the Umno president but it has certainly exposed his duplicity and hollow commitment to “reformasi”.

A Malaysian Malaysia that accepts Malay dominance?

The most revealing and distressing initiative of all during the brief PH rule was the so-called “Malay Dignity Congress” with its racist resolutions which the PH prime minister patronised, continuing the New Economic Policy in the new Shared Prosperity Vision.

And as this short rule ambled along, it consistently failed to meet manifesto promises and voter expectations in numerous ways. We witnessed the flip-flops over PH’s promise to abolish toxic institutions and laws, such as Sosma and other detention-without-trial laws in the country. On top of all that, we saw a disturbing trend of autocratic decision-making and policies symptomatic of the old Mahathir 1.0 era.

Bowing to “Malay dominance”, it was equally absurd to tell Malaysian Independent Chinese Secondary School graduates that their UEC certificate could only be recognised in five years’ time.

This is a serious breach of promise in the PH 14th general election manifesto since more than 80% of Chinese voters voted for PH because of this promised reform. It has nothing to do with “Chinese chauvinism” or “Malaysian chauvinism”. It was simply a breach of their promise.

Democracy means having elected local government

The failure of DAP leaders to push through the long-awaited local council elections during the PH administration will now haunt them. The excuse of the government debt to delay local government elections which have been suspended in our country since 1965 is not acceptable.

It is a simple matter of abolishing a provision under the Local Government Act 1976 and reviving the Local Government Election Act to introduce local government elections. DAP members should question their leaders on this.

In a democracy, any leader charged with a felony MUST step down

It is a matter of principle and procedure under a democratic system that anyone in a position of power who has been charged with serious felony such as corruption, MUST step down. This includes the prime minister and the chief minister. This means that any elected leader who has been indicted on such a charge, is required to step down, at least temporarily, although they remain innocent until proven guilty.

This rule of democracy applies to ALL leaders, irrespective of whether they are federal, state or municipal leaders. Which DAP leader – apart from the late Karpal Singh – is lion enough to call on their “dear leader” to step down temporarily?

For a regenerative democracy, gerontocrats should step aside

As for DAP, their great leader since the sixties remains the helmsman while the hand of his closely nurtured pedigree is firmly on the rudder of the party. As 2020 ended, the call for the father and son combo in DAP to step aside for other leaders by a retiring DAP leader of Selangor (who is only in his fifties!) is a refreshing aspiration for leadership regeneration.

So what hope is there of any political regeneration in DAP in 2021? Will these gerontocrats be generous enough to step aside for new young leaders with fresh progressive visions and skills? Let’s face it, the number of available seats in Parliament and state assemblies is limited.

To have served three terms in Parliament is surely a reasonable limit and allows new candidates to have a go at representing the people. Term limits for elected representatives will create the opportunity for the youth and more women as well as minority representatives to get elected to public office.

To conclude, if DAP is to credibly live up to its name, they must elect leaders who are principled and consistent, and who stand up for the demands and aspirations of the people as well as protect the rights of the marginalised and minorities.

To regain voter trust, democratic practices must be seen to prevail within the party, not overridden by opportunists jostling for a seat for themselves or their faction while smearing their opponents with labels such as “Chinese chauvinists” or “multiracial capitulationists”.

  9. PENYOKONG2 KUAT PHD4PIG ELOK BACA NIE……..

An Open Letter To Judicial Commissioner Mohd Arief Emran Arifin………

    Dear Yang Arif,

I woke up this morning wondering where to take my wife for dinner tonight (on Monday, 12th April, UK lifted the lockdown and restaurants are now open) because today is my 48th wedding anniversary — Marina and I were married on 14th April 1973.

Anyway, as soon as I activated my phone, a message from my brother, Raja Datuk Haji Idris Bin Raja Kamarudin, popped up and, lo and behold, it was the news about Lim Guan Eng demanding RM100 million for the ten articles I wrote regarding his corruption in the Penang undersea tunnel project.

Actually, I did not accuse, defame or slander Guan Eng. If you read the ten articles concerned in the links below, you can see that I only published the MACC investigation paper on the matter.

It was the MACC who said Guan Eng is corrupt, and the MACC’s report is based on the interrogation they conducted on Zarul Ahmad Mohd Zulkifli.

In short, the MACC said that Zarul said that Guan Eng is corrupt — and I just revealed or exposed that the MACC said that Zarul said that Guan Eng is corrupt. These were not my words. These were the words of Zarul and revealed by the MACC who had interrogated Zarul.

Hence, if I had lied, then the MACC would have also lied, as would have Zarul.

Tommy Thomas dropped the bungalow corruption case to repay Guan Eng for the job of Attorney-General
But the MACC or Zarul never said my ten articles were lies. In fact, the MACC was angry that their investigation report was leaked. That means the investigation report is legitimate and is not fabricated or fake news.

In essence, my crime should be for committing an offense under the Official Secrets Act and not a crime of slander.

Guan Eng says his reputation is priceless (or something to that affect) and that I have seriously devalued his reputation. Hence, I should pay him RM100 million.

I remember Anwar Ibrahim sued Khalid Jafri (the author of “50 Reasons Why Anwar Cannot Be Prime Minister”) for RM100 million and he only got RM4 million. And Anwar was the Prime Minister-in-waiting when that book was written (in fact, Anwar is still Prime Minister-in-waiting until today, 23 years later).

Anwar, against Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s advice, then lodged a police report. The police then investigated the matter (as they would have to, since a police report had been made) and found that the allegations in the book were true.

So, what happened in the end was, instead of Khalid Jafri getting arrested, Anwar Ibrahim was arrested and eventually was sentenced to 15 years jail on corruption and sodomy charges.

Nevertheless, even though the allegations in the book “50 Reasons Why Anwar Cannot Be Prime Minister” were true and were not lies, Khalid Jafri still lost his case and was asked to pay Anwar RM4 million (this is known as justice in the legal world).

Anwar asked for RM100 million for this book but got only RM4 million
Anwar was the Deputy Prime Minister and Prime Minister-in-waiting. He lost his job plus he spent time in jail (from 20th September 1998 to 2nd September 2004). And yet Anwar was awarded just RM4 million even though he asked for RM100 million.

Guan Eng, on the other hand, is already tainted. He was tainted long before I wrote those ten articles (WHICH YOU CAN READ BELOW). In fact, Guan Eng is an ex-con. What type of reputation would an ex-con have? How can an ex-con’s reputation be priceless?

In 1998, Guan Eng was charged under Section 8A (1) of the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984 for maliciously printing a pamphlet containing false information — in short, for spreading fake news — and was sentenced to 18 months jail.

So, Guan Eng’s reputation is not as sterling as he has told the court, Yang Arif. Guan Eng has spent time in jail for a criminal offence. He is just a common criminal like a pimp, loan shark, drug trafficker, rapist, sodomite, child molester, bank robber, handbag snatcher, smuggler, kidnapper, etc.

Then he was arrested and charged for corruption involving the bungalow he bought in Penang when he was Chief Minister. Selangor Menteri Besar Khir Toyo committed the same crime, and he was sent to jail in 2011. Khir Toyo spent 12 months in jail and his properties were confiscated.

Guan Eng, however, escaped punishment because the Attorney General, Tommy Thomas, was his friend. And Tommy Thomas dropped Guan Eng’s corruption case in September 2018 after Pakatan Harapan formed the new federal government.

READ MORE HERE: Why the AGC dropped LGE’s case
One important point to note is that Tun Dr Mahathir said it was Guan Eng who insisted that Tommy Thomas be appointed the Attorney-General. And Tommy Thomas paid back Guan Eng’s “favour” by dropping his corruption case (I am sure Yang Arif is aware of this…wink, wink).

Zarul told the MACC he bribed Guan Eng and a number of other DAP leaders
So, what priceless reputation is Guan Eng talking about? In fact, because of Guan Eng, the Malays will not be voting for Pakatan Harapan in GE15 — like they did in May 2018 when they thought that Guan Eng was God’s anugerah to Malaysia.

And that is why there are certain forces trying to break up Perikatan Nasional. If Umno, PAS and PPBM unite under one umbrella, then Pakatan Harapan is finished. Guan Eng and DAP are one factor why the Malays will turn their backs on Pakatan Harapan (unless Perikatan Nasional breaks up before GE15, like what the pro-Anwar Umno people are trying to do).

In short, Guan Eng is not an asset to DAP and Pakatan Harapan. Guan Eng is a liability. So how can he consider his reputation as priceless and worth RM100 million?

The Malays no longer think that Guan Eng (or Anwar) is anugerah tuhan
Anyway, since I did not contest the case and Guan Eng won by default because I gave him a walkover, Yang Arif has no choice but to award him damages. In that case, I will offer to pay Guan Eng RM10 a month if Yang Arif can agree to that.

As Yang Arif would know, I have been declared a bankrupt. So you cannot bankrupt me twice). I have no property. And I am surviving on a UK pension of £25 a week, which comes to RM568 a month (and I can show Yang Arif the evidence). If I pay Guan Eng RM10 a month, I would be left with RM558 a month to live on.

If Yang Arif grants Guan Eng damages of RM100 million, at RM10 a month, Guan Eng would receive probably only RM1,200 in total (by year 2031) because I am now 71 and I do not expect to live longer than another ten years or so. And if I die of Covid-19, Guan Eng would get nothing.

I suppose Guan Eng is not really interested in the money because I was told he has hundreds of millions stashed overseas. My insiders told me that the resignation of the director-general of the Labuan Financial Services Authority, Danial Mah Abdullah, was because he had given Guan Eng and Tony Pua three cryptocurrency licences.

READ MORE HERE: Surprise resignation of two bosses at Labuan financial regulator
Then there are the millions in kickbacks from the developers in Penang plus the three island reclamation projects. It is common knowledge amongst the Chinese and DAP supporters in Penang that Guan Eng is corrupt to the core. So, he definitely does not need my RM10 a month. He just wants to demonstrate that he has won his case against me, that is all.

Jujur.. kerajaan Melayu Islam PN ni paling HAPRAK, urustadbir tunggang langgang dgn isu Covid tak selesai malah kian parah, ekonomi makin punah, rakyat makin tersepit susah sedangkan para menteri, timbalan menteri & duta buta selesa dan mewah, gaji elaun ditambah, declare darurat tapi sana sini bebas redah, undang2 dibuat sendiri tapi langsung tak kisah, diinjak peraturan dengan megah, hanya kutip gaji elaun walaupun cuma goyang telur kat rumah.

Pelabur sedia ada banyak yang lari, yang di luar sana tak nak datang lagi, tak percaya kerajaan Melayu Islam PN ni, kerajaan tanpa majoriti, kabinet jenis syok sendiri, tanpa manifesto, visi dan misi, tadbir main hentam sana sini, akta dan peraturan dibuat ikut suka hati, darurat digazet nak selamatkan diri, merudum negara dan susah hidup rakyat apa dia peduli.

Kalau terus angkat kabinet sampah begini, jikaPRU 15 masih undi puak2 ni lagi… kita umpama korek kubur sendiri, tak ubah ditengkok lilit tali, gantung dan bunuh diri!!!.

AYUH SAMA2 KITA TUMBANGKAN PN NANTI! GERAKKAN LANGKAH & USAHA TANPA TANGGUH TANGGUH LAGI! LAKUKAN MULAI HARI NI! BENAMKAN REGIM PELACUR BANGSA & AGAMA INI!!!!!!

      1. Correct ! i support your view 100 percent

Mudin ingat rakyat bodoh !

Ini semua perbuatan menjolok mata Moodin dan kjaan tebuk atap, langgar SOP, suka2 gi luar negara bawa rombongan di tengah rakyat tengah susah cari kerja, bertarung mata pencarian utk kelangusngan hidop. Tabur peruntukkan pd negeri2 pro PN dan negeri2 diperintah PN saja (mcam si bodoh Menteri Alam sekitra TUan Man luluskan dana mcam mak bapa dia punya pd Kelantan, Kedah Pahang, utk tebatan banjir.

Listen here Mudin and PN, your days are numbered..the time will come all of you will be wiped off in the next GE. Amin YRA. Asalkan Bukan Mudin, Jemin, Hadi Bawang dan PN.
